Government’s $800,000 Foreign Consultants
“What exactly does an American law firm bring to the table with regard to the transfer of services form the Corporations to Government?”
– Royal Gazette 1/26/10
Bermuda’s leadership has spent $800,000 in taxpayer dollars –so far -- to hire U.S. consultants, McKenna Long and Aldridge, to dismantle and abolish the Corporation of Hamilton.
Here is what we think you should know:
Former Mayor of Indianapolis, Stephen Goldsmith, is the leader of the team of foreign consultants tasked to repeal and abolish the Corporations of Hamilton and St. Georges. Under his administration in Indianapolis, Goldsmith was responsible for eliminating more than 1,000 jobs and shrank the city’s workforce by 40%. He was also a domestic policy advisor to former President George W. Bush.
The U.S. law firm of McKenna, Long and Aldridge has a twenty-year history of opposing labor unions and has worked to defeat union organizing in the workplace.
McKenna Long and Aldridge’s “reform” advisors sent to Bermuda are experts in public-private partnerships where cities have been dismantled and assets sold to the highest bidder. Their expertise also includes big development real estate ventures like major deals with America’s largest casinos, and they serve as the Washington, DC lobbyists for one of the biggest casinos in Las Vegas.
Bermuda can’t afford this risky mega-million dollar takeover scheme.
